Publication Charges

All articles are published in full Open Access. There are no charges for initial submission. To provide free access to readers and to cover peer review, copyediting, typesetting, archiving, and journal management, an Article Processing Charge (APC) applies only to accepted papers:

  • PKR 25,000 (national submissions)

  • USD 200 (international submissions)

Discounts and Waivers

  • Reduced APCs are available for authors affiliated with institutions in Low (L) or Lower-Middle (LM) Income Countries as per the OECD DAC list.

  • Individual waiver requests may be considered on a case-by-case basis for authors with insufficient funding. Waiver requests must be made during submission; requests during review or after acceptance will not be considered.

  • A decision on waiver applications is normally provided within 3 working days.

Optional Fast Track Service

Authors may request fast track review and publication (USD 100) to ensure accelerated peer review, editorial feedback, and copyediting. This option must be clearly indicated at the time of submission; otherwise, the paper will proceed under the standard review process.

Reprints

Authors may order four printed copies of the published issue for USD 100 (including courier charges).

Our Financial Model

The sustainability of JSSE is supported through a mixed model, combining volunteer efforts and external funding:

A. Editorial & Administrative Volunteers: PhD scholars and faculty members provide services without fixed salaries.
B. Support from Finesse Publishing (Pakistan): Ensures research dissemination on social and economic issues without paywalls.
C. Optional Fast Track Fees: Covers language editing and proofing for expedited review.
D. Reprint Sales: Authors may purchase printed copies of the journal.
E. Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan: Funding is sought to partially cover operational costs.
F. Conferences & Seminars: Organized annually, with registration fees used to support journal activities.
G. Language Editing & Proofreading: Required for accepted manuscripts; authors may use the publisher’s services or independent providers.

The publication costs of JSSE are met through donations, conference/seminar fees, consultancy charges, language editing/proofreading services, and sponsorships.
