Journal Policies

Publishing and Editorial Independence Policy

The Journal of Social Sciences and Economics (JSSE) is published by Finesse Publishing. The publisher is responsible solely for production, hosting, and dissemination.

Editorial decisions are fully independent. The Editor-in-Chief has complete authority over the editorial content of the journal and all decisions related to manuscript acceptance or rejection. The publisher, management, or any external body cannot influence editorial decisions.

Members of the Editorial Board are appointed based on academic expertise and serve in an honorary capacity.

Peer Review Policy

JSSE follows a single-blind peer review process:

  • Authors’ identities are visible to reviewers

  • Reviewers remain anonymous to authors

Each manuscript that passes the initial screening is evaluated by a minimum of two independent expert reviewers.

Review Stages and Timeline

  1. Desk Review (7–10 days)
The Editor-in-Chief or an Associate Editor assesses:

    • Scope alignment

    • Basic quality and structure

    • Plagiarism screening

  2. Peer Review (30–45 days)
Manuscripts are reviewed by at least two experts who assess:

    • Originality

    • Methodological rigor

    • Contribution to the field

    • Clarity and use of references

  3. Revision and Copyediting (2–3 weeks)
Authors submit revisions based on reviewer comments. Accepted manuscripts undergo language editing and formatting.

  4. Production
Articles are published online first and later assigned to scheduled issues.

Plagiarism Policy

JSSE maintains a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism.

  • All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software.

  • Manuscripts must be original and properly cited.

  • Text recycling, self-plagiarism, image manipulation, or data fabrication constitutes misconduct.

Confirmed plagiarism may result in:

  • Rejection

  • Retraction

  • Notification of relevant institutions

This policy follows COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

Ethical Policy

JSSE adheres strictly to COPE ethical standards.

  • Editorial decisions are made without discrimination based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, political views, or institutional affiliation.

  • Manuscripts are handled confidentially throughout the review process.

  • Editors and reviewers must disclose conflicts of interest.

  • If an Editorial Board member submits a manuscript, it is handled by an independent editor.

Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern will be published when necessary.

Use of Generative AI

Generative AI tools may be used only for language editing under full human oversight.

  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

  • Authors must disclose AI use in a dedicated statement.

Example disclosure:

“During the preparation of this work, the authors used [tool name] for language editing. All content was reviewed and approved by the authors.”

Open Access and Copyright Policy

JSSE is a fully open-access journal.

  • All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

  • Authors retain copyright.

  • Articles may be shared, adapted, and reused for any purpose with proper attribution.

Conflict of Interest Policy

All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose potential conflicts of interest.

If no conflicts exist, authors must state:

“Declarations of interest: none.”

Complaints and Appeals Policy

JSSE provides a transparent complaint and appeal process:

  1. Complaints must be submitted via email to the Editorial Office.

  2. The complaint is reviewed by an independent editorial committee.

  3. A written decision is issued within 30 days.

Appeals of editorial decisions are reviewed objectively and independently.
